ÐÔÅ«µ÷½Ì is a strong supporter of pre-college STEM programs and initiatives.

Our pre-college programs are designed to build interest in the fields of engineering and aviation among middle and high school students, and we are constantly adding new programs and events that showcase the field’s exciting possibilities.

Fall Semester Events

Weekly Webinar Series 

Throughout the fall 2020 semester, high school students from around the country joined us for a look at our engineering and aviation programs.

School of Science and Engineering Open House

High school students, current ÐÔÅ«µ÷½Ì students, staff and faculty, alumni and community members are invited to explore various lab spaces and the academic programs at Saint Louis University’s School of Science and Engineering during an open house on Friday, September 22 from 4-6pm CT.

Girls in Aviation Day

In partnership with Women in Aviation International, ÐÔÅ«µ÷½Ì hosts an annual event at our hangar in Cahokia, IL to connect high school students with careers and opportunities that await them in aviation. 

The 2023 Girls in Aviation Day event at ÐÔÅ«µ÷½Ì will be held Monday, September 18th.

Spring Semester Events

Billiken BEAMS
 

The ÐÔÅ«µ÷½Ì Building Engineering Awareness in Metro St. Louis Schools — or Billiken BEAMS — event is a group-based competition open to local high-school students. Teams are challenged to design, construct and test an efficient road bridge out of balsa wood.

The competition aims to motivate students to pursue engineering careers in order to promote a diverse and strong engineering workforce.

Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day

Hosted during Engineers Week each February, Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day includes lab visits with ÐÔÅ«µ÷½Ì faculty and facilities, hands on activities, and opportunities to meet with current female engineering students.

Summer Programs

ÐÔÅ«µ÷½Ì offers several summer programs introduce high school students to the latest technology and career paths in engineering, robotics and aviation.

Participants are led by faculty and student mentors through hands-on activities that include taking flight in a ÐÔÅ«µ÷½Ì airplane, designing and building robots and off-campus field trips to meet with industry leaders.
