Topics in Pathology Lecture Series

Educational Objectives

The Topics in Pathology Lecture Series is designed to meet the continuing education needs of the faculty of the Department of Pathology as well as to teach residents and medical students working in pathology. The weekly lecture focuses on research topics or a review of the literature on interesting clinical or experimental pathology topics. Residents and faculty actively participate in this conference. The conference allows extensive resident and faculty interaction and discussion.

Accreditation

ÐÔÅ«µ÷½Ì School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor CME activities for physicians.

Faculty Disclosure Policy

It is the policy of ÐÔÅ«µ÷½Ì School of Medicine to ensure balance, independence, objectivity and scientific rigor in its continuing medical education program. Faculty participating in these activities are required to disclose to the audiences prior to the activity the following:

  • The existence of any significant financial or other relationship with the manufacturer of any commercial product or provider of any commercial service discussed.
  • Their intention to discuss a product that is not labeled for the use under discussion.
  • Their intention to discuss preliminary research data.

All Topics in Pathology Lectures are held in Learning Resource Center, Pitlyk Auditorium C.

Medicolegal Death Investigators Training Course 

The Medicolegal Death Investigation Course has been a major training ground for lay death investigators since 1978. More than 13,000 people have graduated from the program from 48 states, Canada and many foreign countries.

This course focuses on the 29 essential skills and standards of practice identified in the development of the Death Investigation: A Guide for the Scene Investigator published by the National Institute of Justice. The course consists of 33 hours of instruction presented during a four day period by 18 speakers.

The course is accredited by the following professional organizations;  Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide AMA PRA Category 1 Creditsâ„¢, Missouri Bar Association, Pennsylvania Coroners, and the Police Officer Standard Training (POST). Also, participants can receive the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators credits. The course curriculum is updated annually to ensure that students receive the most current information available in the field of forensic death investigation.
