- Education Advocate: Our in-school program is modeled after the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program which pairs Student Advocates with elementary students ranging from K-5th grade at the request of school administrators. Student Advocates provide one-on-one and small group behavioral, emotional, and educational support for students identified as by their school counselor. Currently, we are scheduled to support Ferguson-Florissant School District.

ArchCity Defenders (ACD) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit civil rights law firm providing holistic legal advocacy to the poor and homeless ACD fights the criminalization of poverty and state violence against poor people and people of color.  ACD uses direct services, impact litigation, and policy and media advocacy as its primary tools to promote justice, protect civil and human rights, and bring about systemic change on behalf of the poor and communities of color directly impacted by the abuses of the legal system.

Service Opportunities:

- The Director of First Impressions: Assist with providing the first contact/impression of the agency for people contacting us for service or information. He/she will answer the phone; process/distribute mail; assist with mailings; screen calls for Executives; support legal professionals, case managers and other staff; assist with company communications and projects as needed.

- Data Entry Specialist: From either letter/correspondence or Direct attorney team member notes, complete report on the identity and contact information of the direct client requester, legal situation/problem, jurisdiction or jurisdictions and other relevant information for the pursuit of the case by ACD. Handle

phone calls from potential direct clients to record same information listed above. Provide summary excel spreadsheet of pending /backlog cases.

Mission Statement and Objectives:

Citizens for Modern Transit (CMT) is the region’s transit advocacy organization. It was established in 1985 to help bring light rail to St. Louis and works to develop, support and enhance programming and initiatives to ensure safe, convenient and affordable access to the region’s integrated public transportation system.

Service Opportunities:

- CMT's Metro Monitor Program: Provides opportunities for volunteers to evaluate safety and security on the public transit system by completing monthly online surveys describing their experience using public transit in St. Louis. This information is shared directly with the transit agency.

- Community Engagement Event Volunteers - CMT partners with stakeholders throughout the region to initiate quarterly community engagement events. The Freedom Community Center’s mission is to build a movement of survivors that will meaningfully address violence in St. Louis City and collectively design alternatives to state systems of punishment. Service Opportunities:

- CourtWatch Data Entry and Analysis: Provide support to Freedom Community Center's Courtwatch program through remote data entry. Our CourtWatch program witnesses the injustices in the 22nd Judicial Circuit (St. Louis City). We are seeking volunteers who would like to assist with data entry and analysis as part of our monthly data analysis and publication efforts.

- CourtWatch Volunteer: We aim to interrupt the violence of the pre-trial justice system by attending and collecting data at bail hearings in St. Louis, analyzing and publishing that data, and organizing to hold system actors accountable to the injustices we witness. We are looking for volunteers to watch court at the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court in downtown St. Louis.

It is the mission of the St. Louis City Juvenile Detention Center to provide a safe, non-punitive, controlled and secure custodial environment for juveniles coming within the jurisdiction of the Court when their temporary detention is necessary pending legal action, to protect the community and in accordance with Missouri law.

Service Opportunities:

EHOC seeks to ensure equal access to housing for all people through education, counseling, investigation, and enforcement.

Service Opportunities:

Remote opportunities include:

- Tenant Advocate (Virtual): Tenant Advocates are trained in Missouri Landlord/Tenant law and have resources to advise, counsel and refer callers who are experiencing a housing crisis. Tenant Advocates help tenants understand their rights and obligations under state and federal laws. They help draft letters for tenants, assist people in searching for housing, and identify resources which may help a person out of a housing crisis. Tenant advocates are volunteers who are able to devote at least 2 hours a week to counseling tenants.

Other opportunities include:

- Tester for Housing Discrimination: Housing discrimination testing is a method used to uncover discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, gender, familial status or disability. Testing is a controlled procedure to determine differential treatment in the quality, content and quantity of information and services given to home seekers by landlords, real estate agents, leasing agents and lenders. Testers are volunteers who are reimbursed for expenses. Testers must be 21 years or older, must be able to pass a criminal background check, must have reliable transportation, and must have excellent writing skills. Reasonable accommodations are made for testers with disabilities. Testers of all backgrounds are needed.

- Speaker's Bureau - EHOC has opportunities for volunteers to conduct trainings for the general public on fair housing and landlord-tenant rights, as well as staffing an EHOC table at resource fairs.

The Migrant and Immigrant Community Action Project (MICA Project) is a community organization committed to working with low-income immigrants to overcome barriers to justice. The MICA Project utilizes legal services, organizing, advocacy, and education to promote the voice and human dignity of immigrant communities.

Service Opportunities:

- Legal and Administrative Assistance: Help office staff with immigration and citizenship cases, including assembling evidence, drafting documents, legal research, and preparing for cases. Also assist with various clerical tasks at the office.

Missouri Jobs with Justice is a solidarity network of labor, community, faith, and students that work for worker's rights and economic justice.

Service Opportunities:

- Missourians for Healthy Families and Fair Wages Campaign: Help with this statewide campiagn to raise the minimum wage up to $15 by 2026 and to allow workers to earn paid sick leave to take care of themselves or family.

- Canvasser: Jobs with Justice runs campaigns that focus on public policy that supports working families. Examples include increasing the minimum wage, protecting collective bargaining rights, and limiting the influence of money in politics. Volunteers would help talk to voters about how to support these issues.

- Mobilizer: Jobs with Justice often mobilizes volunteers for direct actions in support of workers seeking justice at the job. This includes mobilization for rallies, strikes or pickets. We often need volunteers to help call our supporters and turn them out in support of workers.

"Missourians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (MADP) is a statewide organization working to repeal the death penalty in Missouri by educating citizens and legislators regarding the costs and consequences of capital punishment. We seek to empower murder victim family members, exonerees, communities, racial justice advocates, various faith and conscience traditions, as well as individuals, to collaborate in creating new opportunities for abolition. With coalition partners, we address root causes of capital punishment by soliciting direct advocacy to oppose individual executions and the systemic conditions which permit them. Through alerts to our members, media placements, and educational events, we work to stop executions and to make lasting change to the criminal legal system."

- MADP Pen Pal Program: Connects with someone living with a death sentence in Missouri. Email and written mail opportunities available.

Moms Demand Action supports the 2nd Amendment, but we believe common-sense solutions can help decrease the escalating epidemic of gun violence that kills too many of our children and loved ones every day. Mission Statement and Objectives:

The Peace Economy Project researches military spending, educates about the hazards of an unchecked military-industrial complex and advocates for conversion from a military- to a more stable, peace-based economy. We focus our attention on local weapons manufacturing, arms proliferation and worldwide militarization. We collaborate with other organizations to raise consciousness about where our tax dollars are invested and to encourage others to reinvest in their communities.

The Transformative Justice Initiative (TJI) serves the community to improve system health and safety, and support prevention of incarceration and successful transitions from criminal justice settings.

Service Opportunities:

- Conduct pre-trial assessments of individuals to help determine their post-release needs such as healthcare, housing, transportation, etc.

STL CASA advocates for abused and neglected children and youth in St. Louis by representing their best interests in court and in the community.

Service Opportunities:

- CASA Volunteer Advocate: CASA advocates are sworn officers of the court charged with advocating for the best interests of child victims of abuse and neglect. They ensure that the child – the person with the most to gain or lose and typically the least power in a care and protection court proceeding – has a powerful voice. A voice in critical decisions that will impact his or her life immediately and long into the future.

- Office/Support Volunteers: Office/Support volunteers are needed on an ongoing basis to help with

various administrative tasks including filing, database entry, training material assembly, and information distribution.

- CASA Volunteer Advocate: Times vary, but must make a 1 year Commitment.

To educate and empower older adults and their families for quality living across the continuum of long-term care.

Service Opportunities:

- Volunteer Ombudsman: Under the direction of the Regional Coordinator the Volunteer Ombudsman educates residents on their rights and provide advocacy to individuals who live in long term care facilities. Ombudsmen act as mediators for residents, families and facility staff in order to help resolve resident complaints. The goal of the Ombudsman is to improve quality of life for residents. Ombudsmen serve as an important communication link between resident and staff, becoming a relied-upon source of information and assistance, benefiting everyone involved.

- Office Volunteer: Help research answers to callers' questions on tong-term care options and direct support. Respond directly to calls on long-term care questions.

Days/Times:

- Volunteer Ombudsman: Days and times very flexible; 2-3 hours per week.

- Office Volunteer: All opportunities are any day Monday-Friday, anytime 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m..
