About the Play

January 7, 2025. A civil war has ended and the Republic has survived, civic law and order have been restored.  

Anne Carter鈥檚 new translation of Sophocles鈥� Antigone is modern, playful, bittersweet, and profoundly poetic. In just 70 minutes, Kreon鈥檚 adherence to a legal structure over his niece鈥檚 loyalty to her dead brother is both relentless and ultimately devastating.
