Dear Campus Colleagues,
This is an important update as we closely monitor recent developments at the federal level. Although many of you have already been closely watching the hour-by-hour developments, I'd like to broadly summarize the events concerning Executive Orders over the last couple of days.
Yesterday, the Trump Administration issued a from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) calling for a pause in federal spending on grants, loans, and financial assistance programs. It was immediately feared that these actions could affect our students’ financial aid and the college’s federally funded programs. This follows last week's Executive Orders related to DEIA initiatives, immigration, citizenship, and environmental policies. These developments have understandably unleashed concern, even as we steadfastly continue serving ÐÔÅ«µ÷½Ì students.
We are actively receiving updates and clarification regarding the OMB’s funding pause. This was particularly helpful. It highlights what was confirmed this morning by the Department of Education: student loans and Pell Grants will remain unaffected, despite the threat of a broader funding freeze, due to a recent .
Our Board of Trustees, Chancellor, and district leadership are collaborating with elected officials, legal advisors, our system partners, and other advocates to interpret the legality of these federal directives and chart a strategic course forward. I will continue to keep you informed as we learn more.
