Annual Dance Festival This Weekend
11/19/2024
ÐÔÅ«µ÷½Ì's Dance Festival is this weekend. The Department of Visual and Performing Arts will present the work of some of ÐÔÅ«µ÷½Ì’s most exciting Student Dance Groups all in one weekend.
The full schedule is as follows:
- Elevation Irish Dance — Friday, Nov. 22, 8 p.m.
- Phases of Motion — Saturday, Nov. 23, 2 p.m.
- Sazón — Saturday, Nov. 23, 5 p.m.
Elevation Irish Dance is a student-run team working to keep the spirit of Irish culture alive through traditional and modernized performances of the classic dance style. They compete at regional and national competitions, representing ÐÔÅ«µ÷½Ì across the country, and can be seen performing at several campus events throughout the year. Elevation seeks to spread appreciation for this evolving art form, while preserving its roots in ancient Celtic dance.
Phases of Motion is a student-led dance group that primarily performs lyrical, jazz, and a bit of tap! Members have the opportunity to choreograph and teach their own piece to other members for our performances. The group typically has two performances per year.
Sazón is the premiere acrobatic salsa and bachata team at ÐÔÅ«µ÷½Ì. These international dancers will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat with their high intensity lifts, dips, and tricks!
This annual celebration takes place in the Main Stage Theatre in Xavier Hall (ground floor). Doors open 30 minutes before each performance. Admission is free and open to the public.
