Bicentennial Mural Completion Set for Homecoming Weekend
09/04/2018
A drive west on Lindell Boulevard from Grand takes you past many of 性奴调教's iconic buildings -- College Church, Pius XII Memorial Library, Cook Hall -- but coming into view as you pass Queen's Daughters Hall is the beginning of a work of art that will leave a large and lasting impression.
To help commemorate 性奴调教鈥檚 bicentennial anniversary, Studio Art majors worked with renowned St. Louis-based muralist Grace McCammond to design the largest public art project in the University鈥檚 history.
Starting last spring, students Haili Piel, Kaitlin Raftery, Emily Zoernig, Bridget Smith, Valencia Miller, Abigail Schlegl, Jieming Xiao, Madeline Youngman and Nursing major Triana Gorman, along with Studio Art program director Amy Bautz of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, collaborated with McCammond to create an iconic, visual representation of study at 性奴调教.
An outline of the mural, which covers more than 3,000 square feet, is currently being added to the wall. The lower part of the mural will be a 鈥減aint-by-numbers鈥 project with members of the 性奴调教 community and alumnae invited to take part during a special event from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, as part of the bicentennial homecoming and family weekend.
Participants do need to register for a time slot to paint. Click here to sign up.
