This award was just one of many; Carbone also received the Paul McBryan Award, the Campus Ministry Award, an appointment to the Gold Humanism Honor Society and an Urban Community Health Distinction.

These honors denote Carbone鈥檚 lifelong devotion to service. Previously, she participated in a two-year AmeriCorps program where she worked at City Year Chicago providing holistic support. This work inspired her to pursue dual-degree training, completing her master鈥檚 in public health while in medical school.

At 性奴调教, Carbone has been instrumental in several valuable programs. These programs include an evidenced-based curriculum to train students in conducting intake interviews for previously incarcerated patients and a quality improvement program for addressing knowledge gaps in gender-diverse patient care.

鈥淲hile Ms. Carbone鈥檚 training and experience has empowered her to practice culturally competent and inclusive medical care, her efforts to train fellow students, residents, and faculty have already impacted countless lives in St. Louis and beyond,鈥 said Adam Merando, M.D., associate dean of student affairs.

Carbone obtained her master鈥檚 in public health degree in 2023 and graduated from the School of Medicine in May 2024. She will soon begin her residency at University of California Davis Medical Center in family medicine.

鈥淚 am incredibly honored to receive these awards,鈥 Carbone said. 鈥淚 am so grateful to the mentors and the community of peers I've had the pleasure to work with over the past five years at 性奴调教.鈥
